How Do Implants Work?
Typically, a dental prosthesis only replaces the visible portion of the tooth. For example, dental bridges rely on crowns to anchor the artificial teeth and place. A biocompatible titanium implant post will be inserted into the jaw, where the bone tissue bones with it. This holds the implant in place. Once the area heals, we add an abutment that holds a restoration in place, typically a dental crown.

Do I Need Them?

In addition, you will need an adequate amount of jawbone tissue to support the posts, otherwise you may need bone grafting prior to receiving dental implants.
