Question: Will my teeth need to be prepared?
Answer: Yes. We will need to make room for the new restorations, so we will remove a thin layer of enamel. We will then take detailed impressions of the prepared tooth/teeth. In some cases, we may place a temporary between visits as your new restoration is being created.
Question: How are the veneers created?
Answer: After we take impressions, a dental lab uses the materials to design and fabricate the veneers from porcelain. We use porcelain for a number of reasons. The material is strong, durable, and stain-resistant. In addition, the material also mimics the natural appearance of tooth enamel, ensuring your new restoration blends with your smile.
Question: What does placing them involve?
Answer: After they are completed you will return to the office. The doctor will check the fit and if necessary, make adjustments. Finally, the tooth will be placed using a powerful bonding agent, like we do with dental crowns.
Question: What issues will they address?
Answer: We can place them to completely change the shade and shape of the tooth. They can mask permanent teeth stains, correct the appearance of minor misalignment, repair damaged teeth, lengthen worn down teeth, and even close unsightly gaps between teeth.
