Answer: Often, you can take steps to alleviate discomfort before seeing the dentist. If you chip a tooth, you can use gauze to stem bleeding and then apply a cold compress to the side of the face to ease swelling. You can also do this if you knock out a tooth (however, please place the tooth in a glass of milk and bring it with you to the office).
