Cosmetic Issues Veneers can Address
- Discoloration: Some forms of discoloration are permanent. These intrinsic stains form below the enamel, often the result of tetracycline use at a young age, fluorosis, or injury to the teeth. In some cases, traditional teeth whitening can’t address them. However, we can place veneers to mask them.
- Worn Down Teeth: If a tooth is worn down due to teeth grinding (also known as bruxism) we may be able to lengthen them with veneers. However, if the damage is severe and exposes inner tooth structure then we place a dental crown instead.
- Damaged Teeth: If a tooth is chipped (or natural malformed) then we may be able to correct it by placing a restoration.
- Gaps Between Teeth: We can use a restoration to close any gaps between teeth.
- Misalignment: We can also use them to correct the appearance of minor misalignment.
How are They Placed?
We will first remove a thin layer of enamel and take impressions of your teeth. A dental lab will then create a thin shell of porcelain. Once complete, the shell is placed over the front of the teeth. We make adjustments to ensure the restoration fits naturally.
