Do you have discolored teeth? Do you have problems with the shape of your teeth as well? While in some cases we can improve your smile’s appearance with whitening, there are other times when you may need more substantial cosmetic treatment. Do you need whitening or a restoration, such as a crown or a veneer?
Teeth Whitening
If you have stained teeth, but no issues with the shape of your tooth, then you may benefit from teeth whitening. When you come to the office, we will perform an initial treatment and take impressions. We will then create a custom-made set of plastic trays. We will send you home with the trays and a bleaching gel. Each day, you will fill the trays with gel and wear them for one to two hours per day, depending on what the doctor recommended. After a week to ten days, you will return to the office. You can keep the trays and gel for future touch ups.
Dental Veneers
If you have stains that are intrinsic, meaning they formed below the enamel, then whitening may not remove them. Fortunately, we can place a thin restoration known as a veneer over the front of them. The veneer not only masks discoloration, but also lengthens and reshapes worn down or damaged teeth. We can also close gaps between teeth and correct the appearance of misalignment.
Dental Crown
A crown is a restoration that fits over the entire visible portion of the tooth. Like a veneer, a crown can address a number of issues with the color and shape of the tooth. In addition, we can use them as a way of addressing advanced tooth decay and dental infections. If you have any questions about our cosmetic treatments, then please contact our office today.
