Placing Veneers
Your initial appointment will be a consultation. Dr. Calcagno will listen to what you love and hate about your smile. Every smile should be unique, not cookie-cutter, and as a cosmetic dentist, Dr. Calcagno is truly an artist. She’ll work with you to create a smile that reflects the real you. At this initial consultation, the doctor will examine your teeth, and she may also take x-rays and photos, and make impressions of your bite. The data she collects will help her in designing veneers that deliver a comfortably functioning and absolutely gorgeous smile.
A trusted dental ceramist will use the data and blueprints Dr. Calcagno develops to fabricate each porcelain veneer in your treatment plan. Alternatively, Dr. Calcagno may use the CEREC system, which can mill porcelain restorations right in her office. If you choose to take this route, Dr. Calcagno will take 3-D images of your teeth, and the CEREC machine will create the porcelain veneers in conjunction with your dentist’s input and approval.
Once the porcelain veneer has been created, Dr. Calcagno will place the veneer on your tooth to examine the fit and color. The restoration may need minor for the perfect result. Before permanently placing the veneer, your teeth will be cleaned, polished, and etched, or roughened, to allow for a strong bond. Once properly positioned, the bonding agent will be cured with a cool light. Finally, Dr. Calcagno will evaluate your bite and make final adjustments to the porcelain veneers.
