We all desire a brighter smile. After all, who wouldn’t enjoy a red carpet quality smile? In order to erase discoloration, you may benefit from two cosmetic treatments: teeth whitening and porcelain veneers. When it comes to teeth whitening vs. porcelain veneers, which procedure offers optimal results?
Brighten Teeth With Whitening
To address discoloration on the surface of the teeth, we use KoR Whitening. First, we take impressions of your teeth, which are used to create a set of comfortable plastic aligners. We then prescribe a powerful bleaching gel. Each day, you will fill the tray with gel and wear it for the amount of time Dr. Calcagno or Dr. Heimer suggests. After a week to ten days, you can obtain a smile brightened by up to 16 shades. This works best for extrinsic stains, or discoloration on the surface of your teeth. Smoking, certain foods, and drinks with dark pigments can all leas to surface stains.
Improving Smiles with a Restoration
With veneers, we create a custom-made restoration. In the form of a thin shell of ceramic, we place the veneer on the front of the teeth. Held in place with a powerful bonding agent, the restoration mimics the look of natural enamel while masking a number of cosmetic problems, including discoloration. In addition to extrinsic stains, this option works for intrinsic discoloration. This form of discoloration forms below the enamel, reaching the inner layers of dentin. While KoR Whitening can remove minor intrinsic stains, we often recommend porcelain veneers for serious permanent stains.
Which One Should I Choose?
We will examine your teeth stains to decide which procedure will best address your cosmetic issues. We can then answer any questions or concerns you have about our cosmetic treatments and what you need to do to enjoy a brighter smile.
