Often a dental crown is necessary to improve both the health and function of your smile. We can also place restorations that are esthetically pleasing as well. Unfortunately, few people have the time to spare for multiple visits and procedures. Can you correct teeth in a day? If you have a hectic schedule don’t worry, we can improve your smile in a single visit with CEREC dental technology.
CEREC Dental Crowns
CEREC (chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics) employs CAD/CAM technology to create a dental crown and allow the doctor to place on in the same visit. In previous years, a patient would expect between two and three visits. The first involved preparation, the second placement, and third might be necessary for adjustments. Now, the doctor takes a digital impression, which requires only seconds. After photographing the teeth with the intraoral camera, a model is made of the tooth in a computer. The model and other information will be uploaded into the CEREC machine, which mills the tooth from a solid block of ceramic. The doctor can make any adjustments, check the fit, and place the crown all in one sitting.
Why Do We Need Restorations?
Why does the doctor recommend a dental crown? We may prescribe a crown to:
- Repair decayed or damaged teeth
- Reshape malformed teeth
- Complete a root canal procedure
- Top a single tooth dental implant
- Address other cosmetic or restorative concerns
With the proper care, a restoration can be expected to last for decades. You should brush and floss regularly and have the dentist examine your smile during regular six-month visits.
Do You Also Offer Veneers?
If you are primarily concerned with the visual aspects of your smile we can also recommend a porcelain veneer. A veneer is a very thin restoration that is placed onto the front of the teeth. Veneers reshape the appearance of the tooth.
