If you lose one or more teeth, then we may help replace them with dental implants. We will work with a talented oral surgeon, who will place the implant portion directly into the jaw. There, the implant bonds with the jaw like a natural tooth root, stimulating jawbone growth and protecting your facial structure. However, Dr. Calcagno will then create and place the lifelike restoration. How do you restore dental implants?

Answer Key
- True. We will add an abutment to the implant, which will hold the crown in place. We use crowns due to their lifelike appearance and strength. We make them from ceramic, which mimics the appearance of tooth enamel and is also stain-resistant.
- True. In some cases, you may be missing most or all of your teeth. For cases where there are one to three lost teeth in a row, we can support a dental bridge with implant posts. If you need dentures, we can create a lifelike prosthetic that is held in place with between six and eight implant posts. The resulting prosthetic is fixed, so it doesn’t need to be removed and won’t slip when you eat or speak.
- True. We will use impressions and other materials to design the new tooth. Each one is custom-made to ensure it blends seamlessly with your smile and provides quality tooth replacement.

Without replacement, a lost tooth or teeth can lead to misalignment, a greater risk of tooth decay and gum disease, loss of jawbone density (and an older appearance to due to the subsequent facial collapse), and jaw joint strain, which often leads to either TMJ disorder or bruxism (teeth grinding).
